A Difficult Update
Why We Are Starting a GoFundMe

Reflections
Dear A Temple Jar Readers and the greater Substack community,
Writing this is not easy, but if this space has taught me anything, it’s the value of authenticity and showing up as we are, showing up regularly. Today, I need to share a deeply personal update about my family.
My daughter and I have reached a point where we can no longer navigate our current financial challenges alone. For the second time this year, I am facing the likelihood of foreclosure.
Because of this, we have made the difficult decision to launch a GoFundMe campaign to help us get through this season.
Our GoFundMe Link is here: https://gofund.me/61f0bad7b. Please support our family here.
Why We Are Asking for Help
While I usually focus on technology governance, recovery from personal loss, and the responsible integration of artificial intelligence into consumer duties of care, here, the reality behind the scenes has shifted.
I lost regular full-time employment about two years ago and have been supported by my daughter.
I fully believe that the rules of how I would fit into an organization again are still being written. Being a caregiver within my family did not allow me to move into traditional executive roles, and the intersection with ready advice from artificial intelligence has distracted us from education and real-world experience.
I have been waiting for 18 months for a determination about whether my epilepsy, PTSD, and mental traumas will qualify me for Social Security Disability support. A “Yes" will put us in a stable position, but the meantime is the difficulty.
The seizures are increasing. This is due to increased stress, anxiety, and age I have been hospitalized at least twice in 2026.
My daughter, lawyer, and even the creditors, as well as the AIs have been supportive. My daughter is my rock, and a legal and governance framework has been born of all of it.
But I have to put aside pride and acknowledge that Caitlin has done the right thing.
While this process takes place, we need your help.
Please. 🙏🏾❤️
How You Can Support Us
If you are in a position to help, here is how you can support our family right now:
Contribute to the GoFundMe she established: Any amount, no matter how small, makes a tangible difference for us.
Share: If you cannot donate, simply sharing our link with your own network or on social media is incredibly powerful.
Convert a free subscription to a paid subscription: Your presence and readership here continue to mean the world to me, and A Temple Jar: Reflections is my sole income.
Encourage others to read and become paid, monthly subscribers.
We are deeply grateful for this community and for any support that you can offer, whether financial, emotional, or through a simple share.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us.
With gratitude,
